Apple is Already Working on Next Gen M3 Chip for 2023

The newest and greatest mobile SoC from Apple has only recently begun to appear in Mac products. The M2 processor, which is the star of Apple’s new MacBooks, is anticipated to make its debut in more products later this year.

According to a recent revelation from renowned Apple insider Mark Gurman, Apple is already developing its next-generation M3 processor for 2023 smartphones before they are even released. The report is once again from Gurman’s Power On newsletter.

Gurman has confirmed the M3 chip’s release date as well as the fact that it will power four Macs in 2019. This will contain a new iMac, a 13-inch and a 15- inch MacBook Air. Additionally, a 12″ MacBook will be released the following year, but little is known about it yet because it is still in the early phases of development.

Apple is anticipated to unveil four additional M2 chipsets before the M3, notably the M2 Pro, M2 Max, M2 Ultra, and M2 Extreme. According to rumors, the M2 Extreme chipset—a real monster—is created by combining two M2 Ultra chips.

The Cupertino firm is also expected to introduce the world’s first M2 SoC-powered AR/MR headset. There will also be new M2 Max-powered MacBook Pro laptops in sizes 14″ and 16″. A Mac Pro with M2 Ultra and M2 Extreme processors could possibly be on the horizon.

Although the M3’s technical specifications are not yet known, TSMC’s 3nm technology is most likely its foundation.
