Google Maps is Sending People to Their Death Thanks to a Bug

Google Maps has become the go-to navigation programme for the majority of people all around the world. It has hundreds of millions of monthly users, and it’s disturbing to find that it’s been guiding people down potentially dangerous paths.

Twitter user @pyrogeog recently pointed out how Google Maps recommends risky routes in California, United States. During a heavy snowfall, the recommended route between Sacramento, California, and Reno, Nevada was evidently a badly maintained forest road, but Google Maps took no precautions to advise against it.

Google Maps, according to one Twitter user, is a colossal disaster.

The National Weather Service (NWS) claimed that five to nine feet of snow fell in the area during the last week, with no relief in sight. Thankfully, there were no verifiable reports of accidents in that area, but the fact that Google is advocating these routes is very disturbing.

Another Twitter user noted that the Android version of Google Maps does not properly report road closures.
