Apple’s iPhone 14 will be released soon, with significant improvements that will most certainly be carried over to future models.

In his most recent email, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman stated that the iPhone 14 series will not contain a notch for housing sensors. Instead, the iPhone’s design will feature a pill-shaped notch on top of the screen.

Apple has stated that the notch was required to house sensors for the front camera and the Face ID feature.

Prior to the new Gurman allegations, Korean publication The Elec reported that the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max would have a punch-hole punched out of the screen instead of the notch.

Ming-Chi Kuo, an Apple analyst, had stated that the model would have punch-hole cut-outs. This has now been confirmed by other accounts.

The notch was first seen on the iPhone X in 2017 and has stayed unchanged since then. The TrueDepth camera array, which includes an infrared camera, a flood illuminator, a front camera, and a dot projector, is housed in the notch.

According to reports, the notch will be a design feature on the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max. The Pro variants, on the other hand, will have a pill-shaped cutout for the sensors.

According to certain reports, Apple may adopt a laser-based time-of-flight architecture for Face ID. Others claim that the business will feature a uni body lens design that will aid in the reduction of the front camera module’s size. However, they are merely rumours for the time being, with no analyst claiming it to be genuine.
