Xiaomi is reported to be working on a flagship smartphone series called the MIX 5. Xiaomi MIX 5 and MIX 5 Pro are rumoured to be part of the range, with the Pro variant reportedly sporting the company’s proprietary Surge C2 ISP.

An Image Signal Processor, or ISP for short, is a device that processes photos and videos captured by the phone’s camera. The better it is, the better the final product will appear.

The Xiaomi MIX 5 and MIX 5 Pro have been assigned the L1A and L1 model numbers, respectively. The first Surge ISP, the Surge C1, was debuted with the MIX Fold last year.

The ‘MIPISEL’ function is found in the Mi code of the MIX 5 Pro, according to Xiaomiui. The Surge C1 processor featured on the MIX fold and Xiaomi’s upcoming flip phone is responsible for this capability.

According to reports, the MIX 5 and MIX 5 Pro will likely have separate camera sensors and processors.

According to sources, the MIX 5 Pro will support either the second-generation Surge C2 ISP or the current Surge C1. The Surge C1 chip may also be found in the MIX 5, while no information on the C2’s functionality is known.

Surge C1 is in charge of the MIX Fold’s multi-functional telephoto camera, which is equipped with liquid-lens technology. The Surge C1’s 3A technology controlled autofocus, automatic white balance, and automatic exposure, allowing users to take better images in low light.
