OPay Partners with Euronet Pakistan to Accelerate Digitization of Retail Payments

OP Digital Services Pvt Ltd. (OPay), a SoftBank-backed fintech, has partnered with Euronet Pakistan to strengthen the local payments ecosystem, speed the transition from a cash-based to a digital payments retail sector, and create a financially inclusive Pakistan.

OPay intends to deploy over 100,000 smart POS machines in Pakistan, enabling local businesses to accept all types of payments and provide value-added services to both card and cash clients.

Euronet will drive and process transactions through OPay POS terminals and operate as a transaction processing centre and a gateway for all international payment schemes, as a global leader in electronic payment processing.

Furthermore, OPay will employ Euronet payment rails to provide merchants and customers with value-added services such as Bill Payments, Mobile Top-Ups, and Cash/Card Based Transfers via its smart POS systems.

The complete solution will be hosted on Euronet’s PCI compliant application and infrastructure in its Pakistani data centre facilities, with guaranteed service levels and processing uptimes to assist OPAY to grow, optimise, and accelerate service rollout.
