PTCL and Ufone 4G has joined up with Pakistan’s National Emergency Center to boost the country’s polio eradication efforts.
The national telecommunications company raised awareness by utilizing its extensive network to promote inoculation against the disease, which, if not stopped in time, can permanently disable youngsters.
Unfortunately, Pakistan is one of just two nations in the world where polio still exists. The Pakistani government, with the help of the National Emergency Center and other stakeholders, is constantly fighting to eradicate the disease in order to protect our children’s lives and futures.
This time, PTCL and Ufone 4G stepped up to raise awareness about the importance of immunizing infants to prevent them from developing lifelong physical deformities as a result of an illness that is otherwise easily curable.
From May 23 to May 25, 2022, PTCL and Ufone 4G sponsored the three-day Polio Vaccination Drive by sending SMS broadcasts across 11 KPK regions and former tribal districts, including Kohat, Orakzai, Kurram, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, North Waziristan, South Waziristan, D.I. Khan, and Tank.
To ensure their children’s health and safety, the Urdu language SMS broadcasts advised parents to have their children vaccinated during every vaccination campaign.
“We are happy to support the efforts of the National Emergency Center and the Government of Pakistan towards the eradication of Polio from Pakistan,” Amir Pasha, Head of PR & Corporate Communication, PTCL Group, said of the campaign. It is crucial for us because it is about protecting future generations from lifetime dependency.”
“Through our corporate social responsibility program, we at PTCL and Ufone 4G will continue to leverage our services and infrastructure to produce shared benefit for society.” We hope that our efforts result in a considerable reduction in vaccine apprehension so that our future is in the hands of a healthy generation,” he added.
“We are grateful to PTCL and Ufone 4G for their assistance in raising awareness about Pakistan’s polio catastrophe.” Dr. Shahzad Baig, National Coordinator, Polio Eradication Programme, stated, “The Polio Programme is working tirelessly with partners and other critical stakeholders to prevent children from succumbing to lifelong impairment.”
“We need more collaboration like this to promote vaccination throughout all of Pakistan’s areas so that all children are safe and can reach their full potential,” he added.
The project, which stems from the company’s CSR goals, illustrates the company’s dedication to fostering social good and long-term growth in the country.
The PTCL Group, as the country’s telecommunications carrier, not only enables and empowers people through high-quality ICT services, but also uses its skills and resources to touch their lives based on need and opportunity.
