PTCL and Ufone 4G has joined up with Pakistan’s National Emergency Center to boost the country’s polio eradication efforts.

The national telecommunications company raised awareness by utilizing its extensive network to promote inoculation against the disease, which, if not stopped in time, can permanently disable youngsters.

Unfortunately, Pakistan is one of just two nations in the world where polio still exists. The Pakistani government, with the help of the National Emergency Center and other stakeholders, is constantly fighting to eradicate the disease in order to protect our children’s lives and futures.

This time, PTCL and Ufone 4G stepped up to raise awareness about the importance of immunizing infants to prevent them from developing lifelong physical deformities as a result of an illness that is otherwise easily curable.

From May 23 to May 25, 2022, PTCL and Ufone 4G sponsored the three-day Polio Vaccination Drive by sending SMS broadcasts across 11 KPK regions and former tribal districts, including Kohat, Orakzai, Kurram, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, North Waziristan, South Waziristan, D.I. Khan, and Tank.

To ensure their children’s health and safety, the Urdu language SMS broadcasts advised parents to have their children vaccinated during every vaccination campaign.

“We are happy to support the efforts of the National Emergency Center and the Government of Pakistan towards the eradication of Polio from Pakistan,” Amir Pasha, Head of PR & Corporate Communication, PTCL Group, said of the campaign. It is crucial for us because it is about protecting future generations from lifetime dependency.”
