The Exynos 2200, Samsung’s next large smartphone chip, has been confirmed to ship on January 11th. AMD’s RDNA 2 graphics technology is rumored to appear in Samsung’s forthcoming Galaxy S22 series, promising significant improvements in gaming performance.
The speculated Galaxy S21 Fan Edition (FE) debut date is set for January 11th, the week following CES 2022. It’s very likely that both announcements will take place at the same time.
The Exynos 2200 SoC will not be found in the S21 FE, as it is an older handset that has been repeatedly delayed to this point. It was supposed to be released much sooner but was supposedly postponed owing to a component shortage.

The Exynos 2200 is a SoC developed in partnership with AMD, one of the industry’s largest semiconductor manufacturers. The Exynos 2200 will have an RDNA 2 GPU, which is also found in AMD’s RX 6000 family of high-end desktop GPUs. We have great expectations for the Exynos 2200 because RDNA 2 is also used in the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles.
Ray tracing will be supported by the SoC, which will be a first for mobile phones. As a result, it will be interesting to see how smartphone gaming evolves in the wake of the Exynos 2200’s release. We also hope that the Galaxy S22 series can take advantage of it.
