Dr. Aisha Ghous Pasha, Minister of State for Finance and Revenue, met with Jorgen C. Arentz Rostrup, EVP and Head of Asia, Telenor Group, at the Finance Division on Thursday.
The discussion was also attended by Irfan Wahab Khan, CEO of Telenor Pakistan, and senior officers.
The Telenor team presented the minister with their telecommunications company’s vision and objectives. Telenor, it was said, will play a significant role in Pakistan’s next phase of digital growth and in seizing new telecommunications prospects.
Telenor is happy to serve the people of Pakistan and be a part of their digital journey, according to Rostrup. Connectivity is a key enabler of economic activity and will be a key driver of Pakistan’s digital transformation in the future.
As a result, ensuring a favorable business environment is critical for the country’s incredible progress and the development of a resilient digital economy. Telenor, on the other hand, is dealing with a number of operational challenges, including spectrum range and taxation rate, he said.
The minister greeted the Telenor team and praised their efforts in providing high-quality services in Pakistan while also contributing to the country’s revenue. It was also mentioned that the government is in a transitional phase, but harsh decisions are in the works to alleviate economic bottlenecks and ensure economic growth stability. This stability would help both enterprises and the general population of the country.
The minister appreciated and praised the telecommunications sector’s contribution to Pakistan’s digital economic growth. She also assured the team that the government will provide the best possible support for the country’s telecommunications sector progress.
