Telenor to Play Major Role in Pakistan’s Next Phase of Digital Growth

Dr. Aisha Ghous Pasha, Minister of State for Finance and Revenue, met with Jorgen C. Arentz Rostrup, EVP and Head of Asia, Telenor Group, at the Finance Division on Thursday.

The discussion was also attended by Irfan Wahab Khan, CEO of Telenor Pakistan, and senior officers.

The Telenor team presented the minister with their telecommunications company’s vision and objectives. Telenor, it was said, will play a significant role in Pakistan’s next phase of digital growth and in seizing new telecommunications prospects.

Telenor is happy to serve the people of Pakistan and be a part of their digital journey, according to Rostrup. Connectivity is a key enabler of economic activity and will be a key driver of Pakistan’s digital transformation in the future.

The minister greeted the Telenor team and praised their efforts in providing high-quality services in Pakistan while also contributing to the country’s revenue. It was also mentioned that the government is in a transitional phase, but harsh decisions are in the works to alleviate economic bottlenecks and ensure economic growth stability. This stability would help both enterprises and the general population of the country.

Attending a PTA meeting

Jrgen C. Arentz Rostrup, Telenor Group Executive Vice President and Head of Asia, and Irfan Wahab Khan, CEO Telenor Pakistan, also paid a visit to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), where Chairman Maj Gen (Retd) Amir Azeem Bajwa met with the group.

The two parties addressed Telenor Pakistan’s objectives for expanding connectivity, introducing new technologies, and strengthening digital infrastructure at the discussion.

According to the official release from PTA, “there was an agreement on continuous mutual collaboration in new prospects relevant to implementing the goal of Digital Pakistan.”
