The iSIM concept is being shown by leading industry pioneers Vodafone, Qualcomm Technologies, and the French multinational corporation Thales. The iSIM is a novel technology that allows a SIM card to be integrated into a device’s main processor and complies with GSMA regulations. One of the most essential features of the iSIM is that it eliminates the requirement for a dedicated SIM slot while yet delivering all of the benefits of an eSIM.

Once achieved, this milestone will open the path for the technology’s commercialization, allowing the notion to be implanted in a slew of new products that will connect to mobile services via iSIM. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3, which was tested on Vodafone’s network, served as proof of concept for the firms.

Wearables, laptops, tablets, VR, and IoT devices could all benefit from this new technology, which includes all of the benefits of an eSIM, such as remote SIM provisioning by carriers without sacrificing valuable space.
