Xiaomi, a Chinese smartphone maker, is said to be working on a new foldable smartphone with a pop-up selfie camera for a full-screen experience on the primary display.
@Shadow Leak revealed the company’s patent in a recent tweet. The photographs show two display panels on the device, with the larger one on the smaller outside panel and the primary panel folding inwards.
The main rear-facing camera, which is made up of three image sensors, is located on the other side of the back panel.
Each sensor’s exact function is still unknown. The device’s front does not have a notch for selfie cameras, and there is no indication of an under-display sensor. Xiaomi may be considering bringing pop-up cameras back to foldable phones.
The selfie camera is positioned within a possible motorised pop-up mechanism, according to the renders. Two cut-outs within the rising module are shown in the renderings, implying a dual front camera configuration.
The foldable smartphone will also have larger batteries for greater battery life, according to the tweets. Further information on the device’s availability or unveiling is presently unavailable.
