Sony’s New Game Pass Competitor Service Likely to be Unveiled Next Week

Within the next several weeks, Sony plans to launch a new subscription service for video games on the PlayStation.

The service, codenamed ‘Spartacus,’ is Sony’s answer to Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass. The Game Pass is a monthly video game subscription service that gives customers access to over 300 games that can be downloaded and played. Over 25 million people have signed up for the program.

Sony’s next model will come with a “splashy array of hit games,” which will contain both classic and modern titles. In addition, the service will integrate two of Sony’s most popular services: PlayStation Now and PlayStation Plus.

Bloomberg was informed of the current events by an unidentified source.

Multiple tiers of the service have also been hinted at in previous leaks, with the base tier offering gamers the same access as Playstation Plus. The most expensive one, on the other hand, will give gamers access to extended demonstrations, allow them to stream games, and feature titles from the PS1, PS2, PS3, and PSP.

Future titles and recent releases, such as God of War Ragnarök, will not be available to gamers on the day they are published.

The subscription service has yet to receive a response from Sony. The corporation has been in a long back-and-forth struggle with Microsoft, with both always investigating new chances to extend their portfolio.
