Xiaomi 12 Pro Teardown

As is customary, the Xiaomi 12 series has already been featured in a deconstruction video just a few days after its official release. Because the phone is now only accessible in China, the video is entirely in Chinese. But it’s not difficult to figure out what’s going on.

WekiHome shared the video on YouTube, and it displays the glass sandwich construction of the Xiaomi 12 Pro in great detail.

With a little of heat on the back panel and pry tools slicing off the glue on the sides, the phone may be disassembled. We can see the large square-shaped battery box in the centre after the panel is removed. A protective flap covers the wireless charging coil on top of the battery. On the upper part, you can see the triple camera configuration and the motherboard.

The video also shows the SoC in detail, including the SK Hynix LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, and the CPU/GPU wrapped in thermal paste for heat dissipation. To keep the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 cool, a large VC cooling plate covers it completely.

The Sony IMX707 50MP main camera has a seven-piece lens with OIS, while the telephoto and ultrawide shooters have five and six pieces, respectively. The fingerprint sensor is thinner and more expensive than previously, and the vibration motor is comparable to the Taptic Engine seen in the iPhone 13.
